Overview

Overview

Kinetic were keen to find a a modular building supplier who shared their vision on customer service and capable of delivering the high level of customer service they demand for their clients. Their requirements were for new office, storage and kitchen facility for a windfarm in Scotland. We worked with the guys at Kinetic to design a bespoke 40ft x 10ft building with kitchen and storage space, and created the perfect solution for the needs of their staff to give them everything they required.

Key Issues

Key Issues

The project was always going to be a demanding one bearing in mind the remote location of the site with its location being chosen for its particularly windy conditions! The installation was also due to coincide with the Christmas holidays and the ground conditions were not thought to be suitable for the siting of a modular unit. Kinetic therefore needed a supplier with significant experience used to challenging conditions and flexible and agile enough to act quickly when a suitable gap in the weather appeared. The unsuitable ground additionally needed professional assessment and advice to ensure the building was installed on secure and safe foundations.

As we drew closer to the delivery date, the weather conditions in Scotland worsened. This also coincided with the Christmas break. The ground conditions onsite were not suitable for the building to sit on.

What GCS Did

What GCS Did

GCS were able to demonstrate their wide industry experience and recommended the use of specialised pads that provided a structurally safe foundation that were adjustable and avoided the need for the delivery of concrete to site with all the associated mess and disruption that would include. These specialist pads were pre-installed enabling the building to be installed efficiently and promptly and ready for utility connection. Crucially for Kinetic they are also environmentally friendly.
The weather was always going to be a deciding factor on installation date which coupled with the Christmas holidays meant that we needed to be capable of moving quickly when the opportunity appeared. Unfortunately, as we drew closer to the chosen delivery date, the weather conditions in Scotland worsened and the ground and wind conditions became unsuitable for craning a large building in to place.
However close liaison with Kinetic ensured that as soon as the circumstances changed and a chink in the weather provided a suitable opportunity we were prepared and ready to move and the installation was completed successfully shortly after the Christmas break.
