Groundworks for Portable & Modular Buildings!

Whilst our portable and modular buildings can be installed extremely quickly and need very little site preparation there is obviously some preparation needed.

Our buildings are either entirely or largely constructed off-site meaning they will arrive on a lorry and be lifted into place with a crane. All of our buildings need a stable, flat and level surface to be installed onto. Depending on what the new building is to be used for, one or all of the following utilities will need to be available on site; electricity, gas, water and drains. The provision of a stable site with the required utilities comes under the general term of ‘groundworks’.

What groundwork can GCS Cabins undertake?

We are happy to work with your groundwork contractor or we can undertake any necessary groundwork for you, providing you with an easy, stress free installation. Whatever route you choose we always carry out an initial site assessment to decide on what exactly will be needed before the building is delivered. Our site survey will also take into account factors such as, will the new building cover existing drains or manhole covers, for instance. Our comprehensive site survey will ensure a smooth delivery and commissioning process, often completed within one day.

If we are working with your own groundworks contractor, we will liaise directly with them and advise on the base or ground requirements for the new building. We will also inform them of where any required utilities need to be relative to the building’s position.

Alternatively, we are very happy to provide you with an entirely seamless process and provide everything for you from site survey to building commissioning. Within this process we will survey the site, carry out any necessary groundworks to provide a level surface with the required utilities in the correct place, deliver your building and then connect all utilities.

Another service we can provide is to help with planning applications and building regulations. We are happy to deal with your local planning department on your behalf and answer any questions they may have with regard to building specifications, etc.
