January is a perfect time to explain this.
Just a quick look out of the window during this cold snowy January will reveal conditions that are clearly not welcome to traditional builders and one of the reasons why conventional building takes longer.
In anticipation of poor weather conditions, the building trade normally takes an extended break over the Christmas period to avoid the challenges that cold & wet weather presents. Building sites where the ground is either frozen or muddy can be tricky as neither is conducive to efficient activity on a typical building site. Particularly where there will be multiple tradesmen coming and going along with transport delivering heavy loads – no wonder they take an extended break!
However, that is just one of the reasons Modular has the edge over completion times and rates so favourably, with most projects completed within 50% of the time for a traditional build.
Another major factor is clearly the purpose-built off-site factory environment in which most modular buildings are constructed.
Firstly, they provide complete protection from inclement weather, which enables full-speed production rates whatever the weather, but it also delivers a much more efficient production process with absolutely everything needed for a building in one place and available when required. Materials don’t need to be moved to site, tradesmen don’t spend time getting to work, and multiple units are worked on with all trades able to work on the project simultaneously. Additionally, health & safety is much improved as is quality, given the ability to closely control, supervise and inspect all activity.
The whole process is also infinitely more environmentally friendly in that it produces much less waste, along with reduced transportation of people and materials as described above.
All of this adds up to a slick, nimble process that can produce your building within weeks not months.
The trick then is to find a supplier that not only delivers on time and on budget but can ensure that every penny of your budget is spent wisely and that you end up with a building that is absolutely fit for purpose and delivers every facility you want & need.
